Autumn fog
bleaches the day.
Insipid views
turn my focus
towards the earth.

Sandy mound –
no grandeur here,
save sinking sun
illuminating
the ordinary.

Droughted shrubs
tired of summer,
grass responding,
invited by
the early rains.

Seasons turn.
Tough determination
obeys the call
to make way for
the delicate.
