In the forest, all have value –
none is greater than the other.
Soil praises the canopy
for its gift of nourishing leaves;
give thanks to birds
for transport to receptive soil;
Saplings pay homage
to a fallen elder
as they reach towards the light;
And tall trees honour
the fungal underworld
giving access to food and drink.
In the forest, all are valued –
in this world, so let it be.
